Agedashi Dofu

(3 servings)
1 Tofu (firm)
1tbsp soy sauce
1tbsp Mirin or water
1tbsp Sake or white wine
2/3tbsp sugar
1tbsp vegetable oil
grated Daikon radish (optional)
green onion or chive (optional)

  1. Wrap the Tofu in kitchen paper. Put it in a dish and heat in a microwave for 1 minute. Flip the tofu over and heat the other side for 1 minute also.
  2. Unwrap the kitchen paper and cut the tofu into 12 pieces. Put potato starch on all sides of the Tofu pieces.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a small skillet. Put the Tofu in the oil and cook until it is brown on all sides.
  4. Add the soy sauce, Mirin, Sake, and sugar. Turn the tofu over and over for 2 minutes straight.
  5. If desired, serve grated Daikon radish and green onion with the Agedashi-Dofu.

Tofu is made from soy beans. It is low in calories and high in protein. Also, it has a good source of calcium
The hardness of the Tofu depends on the brand, so choose the kind you desire. Originally, this Tofu is deep-fried but I choose to stir-fry it because it is easier.
